Orthodontic Treatments and Solutions for Kids

Click Here if you want to know more about the orthodontic problems which might require braces for kids.

You are never too old to start your orthodontic treatment. It has been recommended that children at the age of 7 should visit a nearby orthodontist for a check-up and consultation. It is important to understand; the early evaluation does not mean early treatment.

There are many benefits of timely discovery of any defects. This gives us a chance to get the best results most efficiently. Orthodontic treatments for kids usually start around age 9-14, when the permanent teeth start growing. Early detection can lead to easier treatment during the child's growing stage.

Here are some of the most commonly used braces for kids:

Metal Braces

Metal braces for kids are commonly known. They may come in different colors, such as elastic ties on the brackets.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces for kids blend in with your teeth, making it difficult to notice and spot them. In some situations, they are the best option.

Invisalign™ Braces

Clear aligners, invisible aligners or Invisalign aligners all terms indicate a series of removable, clear, plastic trays that gradually straighten the teeth. Their advantage: they're practically invisible!!

Lingual Braces

Lingual Braces are attached to the backside f your teeth. Thus, they offer the most incognito form of orthodontic treatment.

How to decide if your child requires an orthodontic treatment?

No one answer fits everyone: It all depends on what we need to do in your situation. But there are certain indicators to look out for:

  • Thumb Sucking: The thumb sucking reflex is a natural reflex until the age of 2-3 years old. Post that age, thumb sucking can harm the natural growth of normal and healthy permanent teeth.
  • Accidental injury to teeth
  • Premature loss of milk teeth, ideally milk teeth start falling by the age of 5-6 years old
  • Mouth Breathing: If you see your child's mouth always open while breathing, it might be some alterations in the muscles of face and tongue

If any of these conditions are there, it is safe to visit your nearby orthodontist.

You’ll feel the difference the moment you take that first step
